About Us Mount Home Baptist Church is a Southern Baptist Church. Members and visitors participate in meaningful, heartfelt worship, fervent and frequent prayers, generous giving and hear the Bible proclaimed as God’s infallible, inerrant, holy Word that gives us direction for daily life. We strive to know Jesus more intimately through Sunday School and discipleship training classes. We serve each other and our community through missions and outreach activities.
Our goal is to share that each person is created in the image of God and is of immeasurable value with gifts, talents and abilities that are to be used to glorify God and minister to others. We invite you to join us as we proclaim God’s good news to our community, state, nation and the world. Mount Home Baptist Church was organized the 25th day of May 1873. A number of ministers have served here and several buildings have been constructed since the original “log church.” Projects such as the “Sweet Potato Group” in 1944, were formed to raise money to rock-veneer the frame church and build a parsonage. Tracts of land were donated by members of the community to raise sweet potatoes. The potatoes were sold with the proceeds given to the church. Pigs, calves, butter and eggs were also sold to help with the expense of this project. There have been numerous note burning ceremonies as the congregation paid for new buildings. It has always been dedicated members giving faithfully of their time and talents to help expand for a growing congregation. Our current facility was built in April 2007 and seats over 1100. We will always have a seat for you. |

I am new. What can I expect?
Our Sunday morning services begin at 10:30, and usually last until about 11:45 a.m. Our services are what most people would call traditional. Typically, the first
20 – 30 minutes of the service includes a warm welcome among the congregation (about five minutes) and praise and worship (prayer, congregational hymn singing, special music by the choir, soloists, or small groups). The sermon/message from God’s Word is delivered during the next 40-45 minutes. The end of each service includes an altar call and invitations for unbelievers to accept the Lord as personal savior and for believers to join Mount Home Baptist Church. There is not a dress code. Many attendees wear the traditional “Sunday best.” Many others wear “business casual,” and others are casual. Child care is available.
